General Operative
Osborne are recruiting on behalf of our client for a General Operative to support a specialist installation team within a busy industrial environment.
This is a hands-on role assisting electricians and installation technicians with the installation of fire suppression systems. The position would suit someone with previous experience as a General Operative, Electrician’s Mate, Mechanical Mate, Site Operative or similar.
This is initially a one-week temporary contract, with potential for further work depending on project requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist electricians and installation technicians with installation work.
- Prepare, move and organise materials, tools and equipment.
- Assist with drilling, fixing, cable management and general installation duties.
- Support with the positioning and installation of pipework, brackets and associated equipment.
- Keep the work area clean, tidy and safe.
- Follow instructions from electricians, supervisors and site management.
- Work safely around machinery and within a busy factory environment.
- Follow all site Health & Safety procedures and PPE requirements.
- Carry out other general duties as required by the installation team.
Requirements:
- Previous experience as a General Operative, Electrician’s Mate, Mechanical Mate or Site Operative is desirable.
- Previous experience within construction, installation, maintenance or engineering environments.
- Comfortable using hand tools and basic power tools.
- Good understanding of workplace Health & Safety.
- Physically fit and comfortable with a hands-on role.
- Reliable, punctual and available to commit to the full contract.
- Ability to follow instructions and work effectively as part of a team.
- Previous factory or industrial experience is advantageous.
- Valid Safe Pass – essential.
- Valid Manual Handling certificate – essential.
- Own transport – essential.
