Reporting directly to the Managing Director, you will take ownership of the HR function, working closely with site-based teams, operational leaders and senior management. As the organisation continues to scale, you will have the chance to shape and develop the HR function, influence people strategy and build frameworks that support long-term growth.

For the right individual, this is far more than a traditional HR Manager position. It is an opportunity to become a trusted business partner and play a central role in the company’s next phase of expansion.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead, manage and develop the HR team, providing clear direction, support and accountability.
  • Act as the lead point of contact for employee relations matters, including disciplinary, grievance and performance management processes.
  • Partner with project and site leadership teams to support workforce planning and resource requirements across multiple projects and sectors.
  • Design, implement and continuously improve practical HR policies and procedures that support business growth while ensuring legal compliance.
  • Manage recruitment and resourcing activities for both office-based and site-based positions.
  • Oversee pay, terms and conditions and workforce arrangements for engineering construction employees, including working within industry frameworks such as NAECI where applicable.
  • Support employee engagement, retention and culture initiatives across a diverse and geographically dispersed workforce.
  • Ensure compliance with UK employment legislation and collaborate closely with the HSQE team on people-related health and wellbeing matters.
  • Produce HR reports, workforce metrics and employee relations insights for the senior leadership team.
  • Contribute to organisational development and continuous improvement initiatives as the business expands.

About You:

Essential Experience & Skills

  • Previous HR leadership experience within engineering, construction, infrastructure, manufacturing or another project-led environment.
  • Strong understanding of site-based operations, workforce challenges and project delivery pressures.
  • Confident and resilient communicator, able to influence, challenge and support stakeholders at all levels.
  • Proven experience managing complex employee relations matters professionally and effectively.
  • Demonstrated experience leading and developing HR teams.
  • Excellent relationship-building skills, with the ability to establish credibility from site operatives through to senior executives.
  • Experience implementing practical and commercially focused HR policies and procedures.
  • Sound and up-to-date knowledge of UK employment legislation.
  • A proactive, hands-on approach with the ability to balance operational delivery and strategic priorities.

Desirable:

  • Experience working within the NAECI (National Agreement for the Engineering Construction Industry) framework.
  • CIPD qualification or equivalent professional experience.
  • Experience supporting a mobile, project-based or site-based workforce.
  • Exposure to highly regulated sectors such as Offshore Wind, Energy, Nuclear, Defence or Industrial Construction.

What’s on Offer?

  • A key leadership position within a growing and ambitious organisation.
  • Direct access to senior leadership and the opportunity to influence business decisions.
  • The chance to develop and shape the people agenda during a significant period of growth.
  • A collaborative, entrepreneurial culture where your contribution will make a visible difference.
  • Long-term career development as the business continues its expansion journey.
